Subject: COVID-19 Communications update

Dear Officers,

As you may have noticed since last week we have been disseminating a lot of
information regarding Covid-19. The idea is to strongly advocate for
accessible and inclusive response to this Pandemic which continues to
rampage our countries and directly effect our members and the general
public.

Some of the immediate communications actions we've put in place are:

1. Call to Action: We circulated this call to action specifically targeting
government ministries (especially ministries of Health), task forces, local
authorities, and mass media. Please help us push out this call to these
targeted stakeholders so that we can ensure that appropriate and effective
mitigation measures are being implemented. We have heard from some of our
members that they have adapted the call to action and sent it out to the
relevant government sectors. Some have also translated it to local language
and circulated widely. These are the kind of efforts we are encouraging to
ensure the success of our communications campaign. We are continuing to
pushout each call for the next 19 days via social media (Facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/BlindUnion and Twitter:
https://twitter.com/BlindUnion Please be sure to share, like, retweet etc.
Your can also easily share the link to our website (in English, French and
Spanish)

2. Facebook Live Sessions: Beginning tomorrow, Thursday 16, we shall conduct
Facebook Live Sessions about the Pandemic. Different experts will be invited
to discuss specific topics. Attached once again are the invites to the
upcoming sessions. Please share widely and be sure to tune in. We shall
appreciate your feedback. We continue to share updates and important info
both on Twitter and Facebook. Please encourage your members to share and tag
WBU (@BlindUnion)

3. We shall be launching a survey in the next few days, to determine the
specific needs of our members. Please help us reach out to as many members
as possible when you receive these survey announcements.

4. E-Bulletin: As mentioned in my recent email, the next e-bulletin will be
dedicated to Covid-19. We encourage you to share updates from your regions –
we want to hear how the pandemic is affecting our community, stories,
challenges and best practices. I have already received updates from some of
you. and for that, we thank you. Please keep us updates.

5. Covid-19 Resources: We have created a special page on our website where
we are sharing resources related to the Pandemic
(http://www.worldblindunion.org/English/resources/Pages/default.aspx) .
Please circulate this link to your members so that they can access these
useful resources. We encourage you to share with us any important resources
you may come across, more especially we need resources in French and
Spanish.

These are some of the few steps we have taken in the last few days. We are
seeking your ideas and suggestions on how we can improve and expand our
outreach. Given that this is a new project with unprecedented challenges, we
count on your support as we define the best and most efficient ways to
communicate to ensure that our members are not left behind.

Meanwhile, for those regions without Communications coordinators, please
help us identify someone to help coordinate and disseminate our
communications pieces.

Once again thank you for your continued support.

I look forward to hear back from you soon.

Stay safe

With kind regards,

Terry
