I would like to share with you this information related to the CRC Committee - Call for submissions and Day of General Discussion "Children’s Rights and Alternative Care", that we have shared time ago in our list serve to which I would invite you to join by registering here<https://www.internationaldisabilityalliance.org/ida-crpd-forum-listserv>.

You will find information below on how to contribute to the process.

In particular, given you work for deinstitutionalization of persons with disabilities generally, it would be great if you could engage in this process with your reflections around the rights of children with disabilities and their families under Article 23 of the CRPD (support and prevention of family separation, alternative care within the community in a family setting, inclusive adoption systems, and related issues).

The deadline for written submissions is June 14th 2021 and the word limit 2500 words. You will find more information below.

In case of doubts, please do not hesitate to contact me, as IDA is happy to collaborate with national organizations advancing the rights of persons with disabilities when engaging in the Treaty Bodies processes.

The Committee on the Rights of the Child has published relevant information on its upcoming Day of the General Discussion on "Children’s Rights and Alternative Care"<https://www.ohchr.org/EN/HRBodies/CRC/Pages/Discussion2020.aspx> to be held on 16-17 September 2021, including in particular on ways in which civil society organizations can participate and contribute to the process. The process presents an opportunity to encourage the participation of children with disabilities themselves and to raise several issues from a CRPD perspective (support to families of children with disabilities, prevention of family separation, prevention of any kind of institutionalization, etc.)

The CRC Committee calls for written contributions in this process. Please note that the word limit for written contributions is 2500 words, and that the deadline for all submissions is 14th June 2021. For more information, including on how to engage, you will find in attachment the concept note and the guidelines for participation in this DGD, in English, Spanish and French, also available in the CRC Committee specific website on the DGD<https://www.ohchr.org/EN/HRBodies/CRC/Pages/Discussion2020.aspx>. In addition, in the lead up to the Day of General Discussion, between March and May 2021, there will be a global consultation with children and young people, led by NGOs collaborating with the CRC Committee to feed into the discussions.
