Dear Asia-Pacific Disability Constituency members:
I trust this email finds you well and safe.
I am pleased to share this Call for Nominations through which any
interested member of the Constituency is invited to nominate to become the
Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPD) representative individual
on a new Advisory Group being formed by the World Food Programme Regional
Bureau in Bangkok. Nominations close on Tuesday 3 November 2020. Please see
more information on this opportunity, and instructions on how to submit a
nomination, provided below.
*About the new disability inclusion Advisory Group for WFP *
The World Food Program (WFP) Regional Bureau in Bangkok is rolling out a
new WFP Disability Inclusion Road Map 2020-21, which seeks to enhance WFP’s
inclusiveness of persons with disabilities in its programming and support
functions. In support of this effort the Regional Bureau is establishing an
Advisory Group to provide strategic guidance on WFP Asia-Pacific’s
disability inclusion initiative.
The WFP Asia-Pacific Advisory Group on Disability Inclusion will be chaired
by the WFP Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific. The Advisory Group
will include a mixture of both internal WFP and also external stakeholders,
including a representative from the Australian Government Department of
Foreign Affairs and Trade, a disability inclusion advisor from CBM, and a
representative from an Asia-Pacific organisation of people with
disabilities (OPD).
We are pleased now to share this Call for Nominations, through which
interested members of the Asia-Pacific Disability Constituency can nominate
to be the OPD representative individual who will join the Advisory Group.
The full Terms of Reference of the Advisory Group is attached. Key
functions of the Advisory Group are to:
· provide strategic guidance on WFP Asia-Pacific’s disability
inclusion initiative – its vision, ambition, objectives and approach,
· advise on best practice for engaging stakeholders, stimulating
their commitment to the issue, as well as their motivation to be champions
of disability inclusion in their respective areas of work,
· advise on ways to engage people with disabilities in the
planning, design, and implementation of the initiative,
· guide the approach and content of WFP’s initiative, by providing
high-level technical advice on activities,
· facilitate connections with individuals, organisations or
government bodies, which can support the WFP initiative,
· advise on how efforts can be sustained and momentum preserved.
The Advisory Group will meet on a frequency determined by the members, but
no less than once every two months between November 2020 and the end of
2021. Meetings will be held virtually and will be made accessible.
Reasonable accommodations to ensure the active participation of all Members
will be facilitated based upon request.
*The OPD Representative Call for Nominations Process*
CBM is coordinating this nomination process to identify a suitable OPD
representative from the regional disability movement to join the Advisory
Group. The nomination process will be facilitated by CBM, and reviewed and
endorsed by WFP Regional Bureau in Bangkok. All members of the Asia-Pacific
Disability Constituency are welcome to submit a nomination, if you are
interested and feel you meet the following selection criteria:
· The OPD representative individual should work in Asia-Pacific.
· The OPD representative individual should ideally have experience
in both humanitarian and development work in the region.
· The OPD representative individual should be able to provide
inputs that reflect the diversity of perspectives within the disability
community, as well as reflect an intersectional approach.
· The OPD representative individual should be available to
participate in regular Advisory Group meetings, which are expected to take
place no less often than once every two months.
Nominations will be accepted until the end of the day Tuesday 3 November
2020. In order to submit your nomination, please complete either the online
