Dear friends and colleagues,

The 84th Extraordinary Session of the Committee of the Rights of the Child begins on Monday (2 March) at Taumeasina Island Resort. This is the first time any of the United Nations Treaty Body Committees have held a regional session outside Geneva or New York and there are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved in this historic event.

The formal sessions
Most of the Committee's formal sessions are open to the public. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to watch in person. Register for accreditation to be granted access here<https://indico.un.org/event/32328/>.

The side and parallel events
There is a full side and parallel events programme that is all open to the public (no accreditation required). The lunchtime side events will all be held in a talanoa format and be attended by the committee members. This is a unique opportunity to engage with the committee on the topics under debate.

The parallel events programme are more workshop in nature. Of particular interest to CSOs is the UPR event from 10am on Wednesday 4 March. This will be an opportunity to learn about the UPR process from a world expert and explore how your organisation can participate in it and raise awareness of your organisational work to inform the outcomes.

A full side and parallel events programme is attached and we'd love to see you there all week!
