Below and attached are the call for nominations for the Spotlight Initiative<http://www.un.org/spotlight-initiative/>'s Civil Society Global Reference Group, in English, French and Spanish.

The Spotlight Initiative is a new, global, multi-year initiative of the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) focused on eliminating all forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG). An initial investment in the order of EUR 500 million will be made, with the EU as the main contributor.

This Civil Society Global Reference Group will advise the Spotlight Initiative on strategy globally, as well as substantive issues related to ending violence against women and girls, and will provide feedback on the implementation of the Initiative. Also, it will nominate one of its members to serve as a non-voting member on the Governing Body of the Initiative, which is responsible for strategy and governance.

So, this group serves very critical functions and it would be important to have feminists from all over the world, with experience of working to end violence against women and girls and connections with women's rights movements, serving on it. It is with great pleasure that the Selection Committee for the Spotlight Initiative’s Civil Society Global Reference Group (CS-GRG) launches a call for nominations for the Initiative’s Civil Society Global Reference Group.

The Selection Committee had its first meeting on 02 October 2018 and agreed upon the criteria, process and timeline for the set-up of the CS-GRG. Key criteria for membership include significant experience and expertise in eliminating violence against women and girls, and in women’s rights and gender equality and human rights more broadly, as well as meaningful representation of intersectionality and diversity of communities/constituencies.

The CS-GRG is the primary institutional mechanism of the Spotlight Initiative at the global level to harness civil society expertise. It comprises around 15 pre-eminent global experts and will have a dual responsibility — to advise the Initiative and advocate and partner with it for the realization of its objectives.

Kindly note that the call will be open for one month and that all nominations must be submitted by 22 November 2018 to sonya.thimmaiah at undp.org<mailto:sonya.thimmaiah at undp.org>.

Attached please find a document that contains the Terms of Reference of the CS-GRG (drafted in consultation with civil society and to be finalised by the Group once it is constituted) as well as the nomination template for Selection Committee members (in English, French and Spanish).
