The Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration (GCM), adopted in 2018, is a UN framework that outlines Member States' commitment to enhancing international cooperation on migration. It provides a comprehensive, law-based approach with 23 objectives and guiding principles, aiming to translate global commitments into concrete actions. The GCM acknowledges that most migration is regional and calls on regional economic commissions to assess its implementation starting in 2020.

The GCM acknowledges that most international migration is regional and invites regional economic commissions to review its implementation. In this context, the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Regional Network on Migration for Asia and the Pacific are organizing the second Asia-Pacific GCM Regional Review, set to take place from 4 to 6 February 2025 at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok, Thailand, as an intergovernmental meeting.

The GCM recognizes that most international migration is regional and encourages regional economic commissions to assess its implementation. In this regard, the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Regional Network on Migration for Asia and the Pacific will host the second Asia-Pacific GCM Regional Review from 4 to 6 February 2025 at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok, Thailand, as an intergovernmental meeting.
