The Disability Data Initiative (DDI) provides analyses of disability data to help advance the rights of persons with disabilities and sustainable human development for all. The DDI regularly reviews disability questions in national censuses and household surveys in countries around the world. In addition, it has disaggregated wellbeing indicators between persons with and without disabilities in about 70 countries including countries from the Asia-Pacific region.

This webinar will introduce participants to the DDI and provide them with an overview of where and what type of data is publicly available on disability globally and in the Asia-Pacific region. The webinar will show what disability questions have been applied and how they can be used to calculate disability prevalence using different cut-off points for degree of disability. It will show how these cut-off points can be used to measure disability gaps in employment, income education, health, employment and multidimensional poverty. It will further discuss how results from the DDI or similar analysis can inform and monitor policy implementation focusing on the rights of persons with disabilities. This exercise will be supported by country examples.
