Dear all,

The CRPD Committee has initiated the process towards a general comment on Article 27 of the CRPD (right to work and employment), by posting relevant information on its website<https://www.ohchr.org/EN/HRBodies/CRPD/Pages/GeneralDiscussions.aspx>.

The Committee will hold a Day of General Discussion online, though Kudo platform, on Monday, 22 March 2021 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m (GVA time), and on Wednesday, 24 March 2021 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m (GVA time).

The Committee is calling for written contributions on the theme of the DGD, which should not exceed 10 pages and should be in English, French or Spanish. The deadline for their submission is 15 March 2021.

The Committee also invites all stakeholders, including organizations of persons with disabilities and non-governmental organizations, to participate in the DGD through oral statements, which should be submitted in writing by 15 March 2021, the latest.

Importantly, the Committee has published an "Outline for the preparation of a General Comment on Article 27 of the CRPD<https://www.ohchr.org/Documents/HRBodies/CRPD/24thSession/Outline-General-Comment.docx>" (also attached), which should be read carefully in the lead up to the DGD and prior to the preparation of written submissions and oral statements.
