Breaking stereotypes – three new movies about persons with disabilities



We may be used to stereotypic Hollywood-style depictions of persons with disabilities, shown in two different ways: fully incapable and dependent, and, on another side, shown as superheroes. Therefore, we forget that persons with disabilities live their absolutely-non-Hollywood-ish lives all around us. Surrounded by barriers, ignorance, inept attempts to present minimal approval of hardly acquired rights as great achievements and “caring for”, in the world where even simply going out of home is equalized with flying to Mars, we decided to live. With a few hacks, touch of light, or maybe out of spite.

Movies “Life hacks with Ambroz”, “A touch of the light” and “Out of spite”, directed by Gojko Berkuljan, were created to change the perspective towards disability. They are not stories about superheroes, neither about ones who deserve our pity. They depict the everyday lives of three persons who only have one thing in common – they all have disabilities. They have different life experiences, hobbies, interests, worldviews and share one value – equality is the only way to success. Not accepting anything less and not asking for anything more undeserved.
„Life hacks with Ambroz“ is a story about Ambroz Nikač, man with many talents, sportsman, wheelchair user, who will teach you how to „adequately“ approach wheelchair users and what to expect from them. In a totally unexpectable way. Take a look. ( http://tiny.cc/661ocz)

„A touch of the light“ shows Anđela Dragović, law student, theatre lover, a girl who learnt to break stereotypes about persons with visual impairment. We recommend you to watch the movie and see what Anđela has to say. ( http://tiny.cc/581ocz)

„Out of spite“ is a movie about Anđela Radovanović, Russian language and literature teacher, poetess, showing the world of emotions between Siberia and Latin America through her poems. ( http://tiny..cc/9b2ocz<http://tiny.cc/9b2ocz>)


We can promise you will enjoy, with great music, direction and animations. Get some popcorn and dive into the adventure of laugh, emotions and thoughts.
The movies are created within the project „Better working through networking“, implemented by AYDM in partnership with Center for Development of Non-Governmental Organizations, with the financial support of the European Union, through the Delegation of the European Union in Montenegro and with co-financing of the Ministry of Public Administration of Montenegro.
