[Pdf_elections] Outcome of 2018 PDF Board Election

A very warm Pacific greetings to all Voting Delegates

With the successful completion of the 2018 PDF Board election after nominations closed on Friday , 08 June 2018 and verifications undertaken last week, I as Returning Officer together with my colleague, Ms. Rose Wilkinson from the Association of blind Citizens New Zealand constituting the election Scrutineer Committee are delighted to share with you the outcome of the 2018 Board election.

After the withdrawal of nominations by two candidates namely Ms. Samantha French and Ms. Sovaia Coalala for the female Co-Chairperson position which was also shared with you through the email group, the number of nominations matched the number of vacant positions. Therefore, there was no need for the voting delegates to go to a vote.

On behalf of the Scrutineer Committee, we are pleased to declare the following individuals for the female Co-Chairperson and 3 Board Member positions in the PDF Board.

1.       Co-Chairperson (Female) - Ms. Villaney Remengesau, Omekesang Association, Palau

2.       Board Member - Ms. Teewata Aromata, Te Toa Matoa, Kiribati

3.       Board Member - Ms. Samantha French, PWD Australia

4.       Board Member - Mr. Richard Fournier, Collectif Handicap New Caledonia



Congratulations to the above individuals and they will join the following serving members of the Board:

5.       Co-Chairperson (Male) - Mr. Simon Dolaiano, PWD Solomon Islands

6.       Board Member - Ms. Tewai Halatau, Vision Pacific Charitable Trust, New Zealand

7.       Board Member - Ms. Ipul Powaseu, PNG Assembly of Persons with Disabilities

8.       Board Member - Ms. Sovaia Coalala, United Blind Persons of Fiji

9.       Board Member - Mr. Solo Timote, Tonga National Disability Congress



I also take this opportunity to thank all voting delegates who were able to exercise their constitutional duty in electing the male Co-Chairperson and 4 Board Member positions as stated above.



I will be providing to the Board a full report on the 2018 Board election during the Annual Board Meeting planned for the first week of August 2018 which will be shared with the members at the 2019 General Forum.
