Dear Colleagues,

A few months ago, Women Enabled International was selected to serve as one of the civil society leaders of the Generation Equality Action Coalition on Feminist Movements and Leadership. Part of the Beijing+25 process, this is one of [LINK] six Action Coalitions<https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fforum.generationequality.org%2Faction-coalitions&data=02%7C01%7C%7C08c1956675444b9a939408d84defafbd%7C226950b1cf8b49af904021ce2ccc6cce%7C1%7C0%7C637345039139397176&sdata=qqk5qA%2BwiQKyAuVYmEOShV7ud1NOjc3Bv1KkK6YHZ2o%3D&reserved=0> intended to develop key priorities for ensuring gender equality and gender-related rights in the coming years.

We are honored to be part of this process but have realized that, beyond our organization, there are very few feminists with disabilities that have been included at the leadership level. We know this is not because of lack of interest among feminists with disabilities, but rather because those who have led the process to date have not recognized the unique contributions of feminists with disabilities and have not made sufficient effort to include us in this work.

As such, as part of our work on this Action Coalition, we want to present key priorities from feminists with disabilities, in particular to break down barriers to our participation in the larger feminist movement and in leadership. Right now, we are working with the other leaders of this Action Coalition to identify key constraints and key barriers to ensuring strong feminist movements and feminist leadership..

We believe we cannot have a strong feminist movement or truly feminist leadership without the participation of feminists with disabilities. With that in mind, we want your input! In particular, we want to learn from you:

  * What has held back women, girls, and gender non-conforming persons with disabilities from fully participating in the feminist movement and in leadership throughout the world?
WEI would also like to mobilize feminists with disabilities to participate in the Generation Equality process more broadly. Could you let us know:

  * Are you interested in being more involved in the Generation Equality process moving forward?
  * If yes, would you like to be added to an e-mail list of advocates working at the intersection of gender and disability to work together as part of this process?
If you are interested and available to respond to the above questions, you can do so via this [LINK] Google Form<https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fforms.gle%2FWd7HPYeaemgfXTQ59&data=02%7C01%7C%7C08c1956675444b9a939408d84defafbd%7C226950b1cf8b49af904021ce2ccc6cce%7C1%7C0%7C637345039139397176&sdata=MTk0AqWKo8DoooYzC1X7s5SW78qPqD6N0eeU9TA8pwU%3D&reserved=0> or via e-mail to WEI's Director of U.N. Advocacy, Amanda McRae, at a.mcrae at womenenabled.org<mailto:a.mcrae at womenenabled.org>.

We at WEI believe that the Generation Equality process could be an important step towards transformative change for feminists with disabilities, if we can effectively mobilize and participate. But we also know that to do so asks a lot of all of us during a particularly difficult time. Even if you cannot actively contribute right now, we want to learn from you and your work and want to keep you informed about what is happening in the Generation Equality Process. Please consider joining the e-mail list above, or subscribe to WEI's newsletter by signing up on our website at [LINK] https://womenenabled.org/<https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwomenenabled.org%2F&data=02%7C01%7C%7C08c1956675444b9a939408d84defafbd%7C226950b1cf8b49af904021ce2ccc6cce%7C1%7C0%7C637345039139407179&sdata=F7IBEyRVc3NZedL7gxk90sqGk4e9ice0JCF85olhrcY%3D&reserved=0>.
