Subject: [pacwin] GPPAC Pacific Publication: "She Persisted for Peace: Redesign the Table"

The GPPAC Pacific Women, Peace and Security Publication: "She Persisted for Peace: Redesign the Table" is now available online: https://gppac.net/resources/and-she-persisted-peace-redesign-table

The publication brings a peace, development and humanitarian nexus approach, presenting a key set of forward looking recommendations for regional and global inter-governmental processes and our national leaders and government officials to draw on Pacific women peacebuilders experiences and expertise. The recommendations have been formulated as a result of a review of related literature and policy recommendations.

The project was coordinated by the GPPAC Pacific Secretariat - Transcend Oceania and is produced with a Gender Transformative Approach (GTA) in line with the GPPAC Gender Policy (2019) to influence the change of attitudes, behavior and norms that are at the very core of unequal power relations and gender inequalities.

The publication features recommendations and case studies addressing the following pillars:

I Participation in Peacebuilding and Prevention

II Protection of Women Peacebuilders and Women's Human Rights Defenders

III. Relief and Recovery

IV. Accountability of State and Inter-Governmental System

These are accompanied by Key Indicators of Change.

It is hoped that this publication celebrates the persistence of Pacific women peacebuilders during this the year of the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Platform for Action and the 20th anniversary of the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (Women, Peace and Security) while also providing guidance on the ways in which WPS commitments can be progressed at all levels of peacebuilding.

As 1325 advocates have said: ""We are setting the table and inviting you to come to the table and the officials to come to the table, so we don't just stand from the outside and try to talk, but create some space and opportunities for ourselves" - Redesign the Table

Vinaka-Shukriya, Sincerely

Sharon Bhagwan Rolls
