Dear Villaney and fellow activists,

(Summary at the end)

Thank you so much for all your work! I am sorry I have not been able to
participate as I have been very burnt out by anti-death penalty work
<https://wewhowitness.wordpress.com/2021/11/06/joint-statement-nagaenthran/>,
trying to stop the executions of four persons with disabilities for
drug-related offences.

I am not sure if there have been efforts to deinstitutionalise during the
pandemic (I know people with psychosocial disabilities have called for
this) or during natural or humanitarian disasters where people are
displaced, but one thing would be to ensure that people are not put back
into institutions, or just to accelerate deinstitutionalisation because we
know that besides being bad, they have now also experienced how it makes
people more vulnerable during pandemics.

And also that when rebuilding infrastructure, that it centres disabled
people (e.g. roads and buildings that centre disabled people). But not so
relevant perhaps for this statement since it's more focused on the
pandemic. Perhaps when it's on the SDG Goals 13 and 16 again.

On a side note, but not for the statement: persons with psychosocial
disabilities released a statement on the COVID-19 pandemic:
http://www.chrusp.org/home/covid19

There's also the ASEAN Enabling Masterplan.

*Summary of Long-Winded Emmy's Comment*

So I guess, if you agree and if there's space in the statement, mention:

   1. Accelerating deinstitutionalisation and/or not putting persons with
disabilities back into institutions after the pandemic
   2. Nice but not necessary, mention the ASEAN Enabling Masterplan

Thank you!
Emmy
