The Pacific Disability Forum (PDF) is a regional peak body that works in partnership with Disabled Persons Organisations in Pacific Island countries and territories.

PDF is looking to recruitment a competent individual who can help build the capacity of the organisation and improve the lives of persons with disabilities in the Pacific through advocacy and sound communication management.

With direct reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Interim Communications officer (ICO) implements and manages the approved PDF services in the area of communication. The temporary Communication Officer is responsible for managing and maintaining PDF's communication services.

Key outcomes for ICO:

    The officer will be responsible for the delivery of robust public relations services delivered through:

  *   Prepare and distribute media releases on disability issues and PDF policy and programs.
  *   Design, produce and distribute event correspondence and promotional material.
  *   Promote PDF positively to key stakeholders and target groups.
  *   Assist in website maintenance through the IT Officer, including but not limited to banner updates, content, images and video editing.
  *   Plan and coordinate social media activities including updates on Twitter and Facebook through the IT Officer
  *   Timely production of relevant Information, Communication & Education materials on COVID19
  *   Develop COVID19 Press releases and other communications materials developed in a timely manner and disseminated in a way to optimise reach to target audiences
  *   Up-to date website - content entry/updating and innovation/creativity delivered
  *   Innovation in content and the use of various communications platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc. ensured

  *   Effective and value-adding information and educational materials developed and disseminated to stakeholders and the public
  *   Provide technical advice on the building and maintenance of multimedia platforms including social media and traditional media outlets
  *   Use available technology tools as a way of providing accessible messaging to raise awareness of COVID-19 health response activities
  *   Be accountable for your personal performance within the greater Pacific disability community.
  *   Effective media monitoring on disability inclusive releases on COVID, Emergencies and general disability inclusive.
  *   Support implementation of the Communication Plan through methods to be used and how these can be maintained and to build social media awareness within the Pacific COVID-19 response.
  *   Build networks within regional and national humanitarian partners, government, and other stakeholders to assist and support PDF communications strategies.

  *   Ensure disability issues such as protection, particularly gender equality, within the health response are addressed and messaging is tailored to persons with disabilities' communities.
  *   Support staff in information management roles to use information coming from communities to inform impact assessment reporting and needs analysis.
  *   In conjunction with the PDF COVID19 Team provide inputs to the PDF COVID-19 Response Plan MEL Framework to measure implementation effectiveness
Person Specifications:
Preferable
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field.
Minimum of 3 - 5 years' relevant experience in a communications role.
Knowledge of desktop publishing software (InDesign/Photoshop).
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Good time management and organizational skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms. Work Knowledge and Experience

  *   Understanding of people with disabilities
  *   Strong communication skills (written and oral)
Duration:
3 months with an early start.
