[Dpo-officemanagers] International Day for Persons with Disabilities 2021

Greetings all,

As we look at building back better following COVID-19, we need to ensure that the rights of persons of disabilities are not overlooked. This year's theme for International Day of Persons with Disabilities ties in with this envisioned goal.

The theme for 2021 International Day for Persons with Disabilities is : "Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world."

In the words of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. António Guterres we must ensure the aspirations and rights of persons with disabilities are included and accounted for in a -inclusive, accessible and sustainable post COVID-19 world.

In saying this, the Pacific Disability Forum would like to seek your assistance in sharing stories, pictures and excerpts for a build up to the main event in December.

We are seeking either of the following:

  1.  Stories of resilience and change from persons with disabilities in country.
  2.  Short recorded video messages (unedited) from persons with disabilities on what IDPD means for them.
  3.  Pictures of work being undertaken in country during or after COVID-19

Let us work together to ensure that this year's International Day for Persons with Disabilities (2021) gives all our members, followers and stakeholders a glimpse into the Region's resilience of persons with disabilities  post COVID-19.
