Application Is Now Open For The Teruko Ikeda ICT Training 2018!

The Japan Braille Library is now accepting applications for the 15th Teruko Ikeda ICT Training 2018. There will be 2 programmes this year i.e. 1 Intermediate Level and 1 Advance Level. For Intermediate Level Programme, participants should arrive in Penang, Malaysia on  Saturday 7 July and return home on Monday 23  July 2018. As for the Advance Level Programme, participants should arrive in Penang, Malaysia on Friday 20 July and return home on Sunday 5 August 2018.

All the participants for both the programmes will participate in a Leadership Empowerment Workshop from 20 - 23 July 2018.  This workshop intends to allow the participants to share their experiences, discover and improve their leadership qualities with the view of preparing them to be future leaders in the work for persons who are blind or with visual impairment in their respective countries and in the region.

In the Intermediate Level Programme, participants will learn more about the Windows
10 Operating System, NVDA Screen-reader, MSOffice (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc), Internet Browsing, E-mailing and Social Media such as Facebook. Other topics can be included based on the request from the participants.

As for the Advance Level Programme, participants should already have knowledge in Windows 10 Operating System, NVDA Screen-reader and some experience in blogging and HTML. Participants will learn to create their own website, Internet radio streaming, music editing and creating DAISY books.

This programme is offered to Participants who are blind or with visual impairment from countries in the Asia-Pacific Region, possess basic computer skills, reasonable level of spoken and written English, between 18 – 35 years old as on June 2018, healthy, able to live independently and able to travel to Penang by themselves.  Interested applicants should seek recommendation from the ex-participants of the Teruko Ikeda ICT Training Programme or go through your local organisation for and of the blind.

Only short-listed applicants will be contacted for interview. The announcement of successful applicants will be made on 1st April 2018. The decision of the Selection Committee is final and we will not entertain any appeal.
