To explore this critical issue further, the Multistakeholder Panel I will be part of will explore three main pathways to strengthen the understanding and management of disaster risk at the local level. First, how the participation at sub-national and local levels of communities, youth, women’s groups, grassroots organisations, and local authorities can be enhanced. Second, how the interface between science, policy, and practice can be expanded. Third, how the value of local, indigenous, and traditional knowledge can be increasingly central to building resilience.
