<p class="MsoNormal">It has been a very difficult time and took me awhile to share. As a Female Co-chair coming from my very own Micronesian sub-region, it is with respect and deep sorrow to inform you the sad demise of Dr Joakim Jojo Peter. Dr Peter, our hero,
a mentor, and friend passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 8, 2019 in Honolulu. We are all shocked as Jojo lived a life of the people, by the people, and for the people. We have lost a very important member of the Micronesian community and a true civil
rights advocate in the Pacific and beyond. So proud to have known this great human rights warrior whose legacy will be with us forever and pledge to carry his message on and making a difference. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">At personal level, Dr Peter is Jojo to his families and his friends. Jojo told me to be strong and fight while I was at my recent travel in Manila stressing of the tensions and difficulties with ESCAP on my route to Bangkok. He encouraged
me that I can do this and not give up and to be proud that I will do this in Bangkok for the people. I will surely miss him, his smiles, sense of humor, passion, and commitment. Thank you for all you have done, Jojo. Rest in peace and love Jojo. <o:p></o:p></p>
