Calling upon Indigenous Peoples’ Representatives / Organizations for contributions to the
White / Wiphala Paper on Indigenous Peoples’ Mobile Livelihoods and Collective Rights to Lands, Territories and Natural Resources!
Contribute in writing or orally before 24th February 2023!

The Global-Hub on Indigenous Peoples’ Food Systems is leading a collective effort to prepare a White/Wiphala Paper on the importance of collective rights of Indigenous Peoples. The Global-Hub would like to receive your contributions and experiences as a representative of Indigenous Peoples on “Indigenous Peoples’ mobile livelihoods and collective rights to lands, waters, territories and natural resources”. Your contributions will be fundamental to developing this new White/Wiphala paper and framing the messages that Indigenous Peoples and allies want to bring to the world on the importance of guaranteeing these rights.

To contribute, please answer the five questions below. You can send your answers in written text or prepare an audio answer and send it to us as an attachment by email or by WhatsApp to Mr. Kundan Kumar (+1 647 819 6782).

1. What is the importance of Indigenous Peoples’ collective rights to lands, territories and natural resources for your people’s food security and food sovereignty? Please explain.

2. How would you describe your people’s relationship with your land, territories and natural resources?

3. Do your people move from place to place or travel over a large area to meet their livelihoods needs? Please provide details.

4. In your opinion, what are the biggest challenges Indigenous Peoples face with respect to collective territories, lands and natural resources? What are the causes of these challenges and difficulties?

5. If you could make policy recommendations to support Indigenous Peoples’ collective rights to land, territories and natural resources to governments and the international community, what will those policies say? Please provide details.

This paper will acknowledge and credit all contributors. To do so, please provide the following information:
● Name of all persons and titles of the contributors as you would like to see written in the contributors’ list. Make sure that you have their consent to be credited.
● Logo of your organization if relevant
● Affiliation to Indigenous People, organization, community, country, sociocultural region
● Indicate whether your contribution is individual or collective (group, tribe, youth, women, elders, community, etc.)
● Please also indicate your consent for the use of your contribution (written or orally). In case you would like your contribution to remain anonymous given the risks that Indigenous Peoples can face, please indicate the same.

Please send all your inputs before 24th February to kundan.Kumar at fao.org<mailto:kundan.Kumar at fao.org>.

Please also send your queries to the same address.

Your contribution is highly appreciated!
