Good evening,

According to the UNDP through an article published on the Special Olympics website, one to three percent of the global population that is the same as two hundred million people are living with an intellectual disability and 80% of these live in low-income countries. T

his is the same as 16.41 out of every one thousand people.

Persons with intellectual disabilities are one of the marginalized groups of people within the disability sector. This is often attributed to their inability to advocate for themselves and the incapacity for self-autonomy. In addition, they are often left out in terms of education and employment due to the lack of appropriate services and skilled personnel who can provide relevant support.

Join us as OPDs from around the region present their key priorities, identify their challenges and give recommendations on the way forward planned for 9th February.
