7th Pacific Regional Conference on Disability:

Across PICs, the average prevalence rate in the female population 18 years and older is 19.2 per cent, compared to 12 per cent for males, representing about 1 in 5 women.[1] In the Pacific region, there are an estimated 775,000 women and girls with disabilities.

Many times, women and girls with disabilities are invisible and marginalized in society, including among those promoting the rights of persons with disabilities, and those promoting gender equality and the advancement of women.  The exclusion of women and girls with disabilities in decision making spaces allows the perpetuation of harmful stereotypes, both concerning gender and disability, and leads to innumerable human rights violations.

Join us for a 7th Pacific Regional Conference on Disability Women's Forum specifically targeted at (i) identifying practical actions/pathways to ensure commitments in the 2030 agenda for women and girls with disabilities are realized and (ii) look at key regional priorities on women and girls with disabilities according to PDF's strategic plan 2021-2025 and engage partners to progress work on these priorities.
