Dear PDF members,
Please excuse the late notice, but Rights & Inclusion Australia is holding its Annual Housing Forum, virtually, tomorrow from 9.30am to 1pm AEST. The forum has accessibility and universal design as its focus, and this year we are celebrating the fact that for the first time in Australia our National Construction Code (NCC) 2022 will include the Livable Housing Australia Silver<https://livablehousingaustralia.org.au/lha-silver/> Level as mandatory guidelines to be followed by builders and developers. Australia is a federated system and unfortunately individual states and territories are able to opt out of following parts of the NCC, and the largest Australia State, NSW, has decided not to adopt the Silver guidelines.
The forum will consider the reasons why we have had to regulate accessibility in the National Construction Code, how this will be implemented by the building industry from 1 September 2022, why NSW and South Australia have refused to follow the rest of Australia, and what the impact will be of this on access to suitable housing across the country.
If you are interested in attending, please note it is by registration only, and it is free. You can find out all the details by going to the forum page<https://riaustralia.org/inclusive-housing-system-annual-forum/> on our website. Registrations close at 2pm (AEST) today, so take a look now and we hope to see you online at the forum tomorrow.
Kind regards,
Michael
