Greetings all,

October 11th marks International Girl Child Day. The theme this year is "Digital generation. Our generation"

Set aside as a day to empower and amplify the voices of young girls around the world. This year’s theme highlights that all girls including those with disabilities know their digital realities and the solutions they need to pave paths to freedom of expression, joy and boundless potential.

Achieving gender equality and women's empowerment is an integral part of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals that UN member nations adopted in 2015. The International Day of the Girl Child holds the key to achieving this as empowering women and girls, who represent half of the world's population, is crucial to accelerating sustainable development.

The Pacific Disability Forum is proud to be a part of the Pacific Menstrual Health Network. As part of International Girl Child Day, Girls with disabilities in the Pacific are shouting SILENT NO MORE! against taboo, stigma and denial of information on menstrual health. Together we can advocate that all girls menstrual health rights.
