Dear colleagues,

The project “Phase 2 – Leave no one behind!: Mainstreaming Disability in Humanitarian Action” would like to invite you to our first webinar on: 
“Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in the Humanitarian COVID-19 Response” on 7 May 2020 from 3:30 pm to 5:00pm CEST.

Background: 

In the COVID-19 pandemic, persons with disabilities may face heightened risks, such as increased exposure rates, due to numerous barriers in the humanitarian response. For example, barriers in accessing life-saving information, protective measures and other essential humanitarian services on an equal basis with others. Gaps in the preparedness and response plans increase these risks even further. 

To ensure an inclusive response the webinar will answer the following questions: 

*	What are the factors that may put persons with disabilities at heightened risk in the COVID-19 response? What barriers exacerbate these risks? 
*	What key actions should humanitarian programmers consider to ensure a safe and inclusive access to preparedness and response interventions?
*	What are promising practices and key practical recommendations? 
*	What are key resources for an inclusive COVID-19 response?

Objective: This webinar will bring together global and in-country technical inclusion experts to discuss key barriers and risks for persons with disabilities in the humanitarian COVID-19 response. It further aims at providing key recommended actions to participants to ensure that their programming is inclusive of persons with disabilities.

Main Facilitator: 

*	Sien Andries, Inclusive Humanitarian Action Specialist, Humanity & Inclusion also known as Handicap International 

Guest Speaker:

*	Paul Mugambi, Inclusion Technical Advisor of Humanity & Inclusion Somalia, and Disability Rights Activist
*	2nd guest speaker, TBC

The webinar will be recorded. The recording might be published online and will be available for participants afterwards, together with a resource package. 

Accessibility: The webinar will be in English and will include Live Captioning as well as International Sign Language (ISL) interpretation. We use GoToWebinar for conduction. It allows participation through the web browser, mobile/desktop app and phone. Live captioning will be provided through an external link. ISL will be directly integrated into GoToWebinar (windows are scalable).
