Subject: The Manila Initiative on the Rights of Climate Migrants

Dear friends,

It has been a month since the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung, together with the Asian People’s Movement on Debt and Development (APMDD), International Migrants Alliance (IMA), and Kalikasan-People’s Network on the Environment organized ‘Beyond Labels, Beyond Borders: International Solidarity Conference on the Rights of Climate Migrants’ in the Philippines. The conference brought together 73 participants from 54 organizations from 22 countries from the different global regions.

We came very strong in highlighting the structural roots of vulnerability, displacement and migration. But we also came out much stronger with the affirmation that it is through genuine international solidarity that we will be able to reclaim our right to live in dignity and imagine a future.

We are sharing with you the Manila Initiative on the Rights of Climate Migrants that was affirmed by all the participants, and which we will serve to guide our work.
