Dear Friends,

The 2019 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), will be convened under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) from Tuesday, 9 July, to Thursday, 18 July 2019, with the three-day ministerial meeting of the forum convened jointly with the high-level segment of the Council from 16 July to 18 July 2019.

Forty-nine (49) countries intend to present their Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) at this year’s forum (https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/vnrs/), 41 for the first time and 9 for the second time.


The theme of this year’s forum will be “Empowering people and ensuring Inclusiveness and equality”. following SDGs are going to be reviewed this year:
Goal 4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all;

Goal 8. Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all;

Goal 10. Reduce inequality within and among countries;
Goal 13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts;

Goal 16. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels;
Goal 17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development (reviewed annually)

APRCEM is a civil society platform aimed to enable stronger cross constituency coordination and ensure that voices of all sub-regions of Asia Pacific are heard in intergovernmental processes in regional and global level. The platform is initiated, owned and driven by the CSOs, and seeks to engage with UN systems and Member States on the sustainable development issues/processes. As an open, inclusive, and flexible mechanism, RCEM is designed to reach the broadest number of CSOs in the region, harness the voice of grassroots and peoples’ movements to advance development justice that address the inequalities of wealth, power, resources between countries, between rich and poor and between men and women.
