WIPO has announced that the USA has joined the WIPO Marrakesh Treaty as its 50th member, adding a major global publishing centre to the Treaty. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is one of the 15 specialised agencies of the United Nations. WIPO was created in 1967 "to encourage creative activity, to promote the protection of intellectual property throughout the world".
