Bula Seta,

I have just received the email below from a colleague from Motivation UK, who is working with DFID on preparation for the Global Disability Summit. It is very short notice, however DFID is hoping to put together a video with the views of people with disabilities. I do not know if this has already been shared with Pacific Island nation stakeholders. In case not, I am forwarding to you to send out through your networks, in case anyone would like to submit a short video as described.

Vinaka, Kylie

Kylie – was wondering if you could share this message with your partners and team in case they wanted to get involved. Wonderful to have more voice from Pacific!

All the best,
Tamsin

It would be great if we are able to ask a couple of people [UK or ideally from your country networks] to film themselves on their mobile phones (holding their phone in landscape rather than portrait) to incorporate it into the opening film for the disability summit. This film will be seen by decision makers across the world.

We want people to answer in one sentence only the following questions

  1. What does dignity mean to you?

(It would be great if the interviewee can answer ‘To me, dignity means…)

  1. What kind of a world do you want to see?

(It would be great if the interviewee can answer ‘I want a world where …)

Finally, it would be great if they can say directly to screen ‘Now is the time to …’ (and whatever they believe it is time for !)

Can they do this by COP Monday?

We particularly need more voices of women and girls– and those with a wide range of impairment types (so far we have more men with sensory and physical disabilities than other groups).

They can send the videos by whatsapp or viber to 07743 074 924

Or email to Joanna-harrison at dfid.gov.uk<mailto:Joanna-harrison at dfid.gov.uk>
