<span lang="EN" style="font-size:14.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#42484B">AWID’s WHRDs Tribute is a photo exhibition featuring feminist, women’s rights and social justice activists from around the world who are no longer with us. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<span lang="EN" style="font-size:14.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#42484B">The Tribute was first launched in 2012, at AWID’s
<a href="http://www.forum.awid.org/forum12/"><span style="color:#222222;text-decoration:none">12th International Forum</span></a>, in Turkey. It took shape with a physical exhibit of portraits and biographies of feminists and activists who passed away. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:15.0pt;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:15.0pt;margin-left:0in">
<span lang="EN" style="font-size:14.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#42484B">In between the AWID Forums, the Tribute lives as an online gallery that is updated every year as part of the
<a href="http://16dayscwgl.rutgers.edu/"><span style="color:#222222;text-decoration:none">16 Days Campaign Against Gender Based Violence</span></a> (25 November – 10 December). To date, 424 feminists and WHRDs have been featured since the beginning of the Tribute
in 2012.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:24.0pt;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:24.0pt;margin-left:0in">
<span lang="EN" style="font-size:17.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#42484B">Our Tribute in 2018<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:15.0pt;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:15.0pt;margin-left:0in">
<span lang="EN" style="font-size:14.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#42484B">This year, 55 feminists and WHRDs are celebrated and honored. While many of them have passed away due to old age or illness, too many have been killed as a result of their
work and who they are.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:15.0pt;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:15.0pt;margin-left:0in">
<span lang="EN" style="font-size:14.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#42484B">This increasing violence (by states, corporations, organized crime, unknown gunmen...) is not only aimed at individual activists but at our joint work and feminist realities.
Among many ways we continue to fight and resist, our memory is one of them. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
