Breast cancer is currently the most common cancer globally, accounting for 12.5% of all new annual cancer cases worldwide. The breast cancer ribbon has become the universal symbol of breast cancer, illustrating the cause, raising awareness and bringing together women in solidarity.

The song, One True Step, is a story of women who have been through breast cancer. But the message is true of any huge life challenge.

When the path isn't easy or clear, even the smallest step makes a difference. And even when we are alone, we are surrounded by more love than we can imagine.

Lucy Mathews Heegaard wrote the music and the lyrics after watching many friends go through diagnosis and treatment, beginning with one of her closest friends. To illustrate the song, Lucy says, "I asked friends who had been through the disease to send photos of themselves of any moment they chose to share.  My request spread through email far beyond my own friends, and many people responded.  I was overwhelmed by the generosity of the personal photos and even journal entries that women sent me.  My first goal for the video is to honor the experiences of each of these women, and through them, to honor and remember anyone who has been through breast cancer."
