WWDA’s response to the NDIS Autism Consultation Paper

We have now submitted our response to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Consultation Paper on ‘Interventions for Children on the Autism Spectrum’<https://womenwithdisabilitiesaustralia.cmail20.com/t/i-l-muredt-jkllkrtju-p/>.

With help from our members, our response outlines four key areas of concern:
· Inconsistencies in decision-making
· Limitations of Evidence base
· Exacerbation of inequalities based on Culture, Race and Gender
· Assumption of community-based supports

Last week, WWDA's Senior Policy Officer, Elly Desmarchelier spoke to Radio Adelaide<https://womenwithdisabilitiesaustralia.cmail20.com/t/i-l-muredt-jkllkrtju-c/> about what the 2021-2022 Federal Budget has in store for women and girls with disabilities.
Elly explained that this year's federal budget was a bit of a “mixed bag,” with “some investments specifically to prevent violence and abuse – but ongoing concerns and questions around the government commitment to the NDIS.”
