We are happy to draw your attention to the virtual multi-stakeholder hearing on Beijing+25 on Tuesday 21 July at 10:00 am – 5:00 pm EDT, convened by the President of the General Assembly with the support of UN Women.  The event contributes to the high-level meeting of the General Assembly scheduled to take place on 1 October 2020, as part of the high-level week of the 75th session of the General Assembly.

The multi-stakeholder hearing will be live-streamed on UN WebTV, at http://webtv.un.org<https://aus01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwebtv.un.org%2F&data=02%7C01%7C%7Cb9aec13f065a430beecf08d82dfab44d%7Cf721524dea604048bc46757d4b5f9fe8%7C0%7C0%7C637309902113926485&sdata=wesDv2%2BHlh82s1oOY4B0Hzg%2BJEzHz5VIVB9%2FQuB%2BSnQ%3D&reserved=0>. Please feel free to follow the event, bring it to the attention of your constituencies, and amplify the event through social media.

Some 1400 NGOs representatives have registered to participate on the virtual platform, together with hundreds of Member States and colleagues from the UN system.

The programme starts at 10.00 am EDT, with an opening statement by the President of the General Assembly, followed by:

  *   Gender equality leaders’ dialogue (10.10 -11.40 am) with Ministers from Argentina, Armenia, Bahamas, Republic of Korea, and Sierra Leone, respectively, together with four stakeholder representatives (civil society, national human rights institution, private sector, and youth).  This will be followed by three interactive panel discussions on:
  *   Women’s and girls’ voices, participation and leadership (11.45 am – 12.50 pm)
  *   Achieving gender equality is everyone’s responsibility (12.55 – 14.00 pm)
  *   Gender equality and women’s and girls’ empowerment: drivers for sustainable development (15.00 – 16.30 pm)
The programme will wrap up with:

  *   A conversation about the future, by UN Women ED with three guests (16.35 – 16.55 pm).
The President of the GA will make a closing statement and close the event at 17.00 EDT.
