SDG Key Messages - The Sustainable Development Goals
In preparation for the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development<http://www.unwomen.org/en/how-we-work/intergovernmental-support/hlpf-on-sustainable-development> (HLPF) each year, UN Women drafts a set of two-page briefs related to the Sustainable Development Goals<http://www.unwomen.org/en/news/in-focus/women-and-the-sdgs> (SDGs) under review. The briefs contain facts and figures on recent trends and key messages on the gender perspectives of each SDG and the importance of the gender-responsive implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development<http://www.unwomen.org/en/what-we-do/post-2015>.

In preparation for the 2019 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development<http://www.unwomen.org/en/how-we-work/intergovernmental-support/hlpf-on-sustainable-development> (HLPF), UN Women, UNODC, and the UNFCCC Secretariat brought together experts from governments, academia, and civil society for a meeting in Vienna from 27 to 28 February 2019 on the gender-responsive implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development<http://www.unwomen.org/en/what-we-do/post-2015>, with a specific focus on three of the Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 10<http://www.unwomen.org/en/news/in-focus/women-and-the-sdgs/sdg-10-reduced-inequalities>, Goal 13<http://www.unwomen.org/en/news/in-focus/women-and-the-sdgs/sdg-13-climate-action>, and Goal 16<http://www.unwomen.org/en/news/in-focus/women-and-the-sdgs/sdg-16-peace-justice-strong-institutions>.
Recommendations from the report of the meeting focus on:

  *   strengthening good governance, inclusive rule of law, and access to justice;
  *   removing structural barriers to women's participation in decision-making and promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth and social development that achieves gender equality and empowers all women and girls;
  *   investing in national statistical capacities to promote evidence-based policy-making, planning, and budgeting, and ensure better monitoring of progress and accountability for results; and
  *   increasing financing for the gender-responsive implementation of the 2030 Agenda through domestic resource mobilization policies and global action to address the systemic imbalances in domestic and international tax, trade, and investment arrangements.
