Dear all,

I want to share a new publication: Carbon Markets, Forests and Rights: An introductory series for indigenous peoples and communities

As indigenous and forest peoples experience a rush of interest in their lands and territories from carbon market actors, they ask: "What are these markets?" And "what do they mean for our rights, livelihoods and ways of life?"

Together with the Global Justice Clinic of NYU, Forest Peoples Programme has developed a series of introductory materials to start responding to these questions.

In the context of increasing attention to the human rights and environmental critiques of carbon markets - as well as the booming of 'high-integrity’ initiatives claiming to address these - we hope these explainers will help communities identify the questions they need to ask and consider to make their own self-determined decisions about carbon markets.
