CALL FOR APPLICATIONS:  CSW 68

The UN Women Fiji Multi-Country Office is inviting applications from civil society representatives across the Pacific region who are working on gender equality and the empowerment of women to attend the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women<https://www.unwomen.org/en/csw/csw68-2024>, taking place at the United Nations headquarters in New York from 11-22 March 2024.

Themes
The priority theme of the session will be Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective. There will also be a review of agreed conclusions of the sixty third session, on Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.

UN Women supports all aspects of the Commission’s work. The Entity also facilitates the participation of civil society representatives.

Funding to cover the travel and daily allowance for the duration of the meeting is available for a limited number of applicants residing in/with citizenship in the following countries:  Cook Islands, Kiribati, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Republic of Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
The UN Women Fiji Multi-Country Office will accept applications from individuals who meet the following criteria:

  *   The focus of the applicant’s work is aligned with the CSW68 themes above.
  *   The applicant can articulate how she/he will utilize the CSW68 experience and outcomes in her/his future work.
  *   The applicant is available to attend the full duration of the meeting in New York, in person.
  *   The applicant resides in a Pacific Small Island Developing State.
  *   The applicant is taking part in a CSW68 side event or confirmed event.
  *   The applicant has prior experience in engaging in intergovernmental processes or representation in government delegations in the past sessions of the CSW.
  *   The applicant is a member of or is well connected to a network of civil society organizations.
  *   The applicant is willing to submit a report on their participation, with images and accompanying content for an article and/or blogpost on their participation.
  *   The applicant is willing to contribute to and support with communications and visibility around their participation in and other Pacific related highlights at CSW68.
  *   The applicant is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (with a US-recognised vaccine) and meets all COVID-19 travel requirements related to the respective travel.

Successful candidates will need to partner with an ECOSOC accredited civil society organization to ensure the ability to attend and participate in the CSW global convening.

The selection committee will consider diversity of representation from Pacific states, and the need to include women with intersectional representation from marginalised communities.

APPLICATION:

  *   Letter of request addressing the selection criteria above, objective in attending, and status of other funding support
  *   Curriculum Vitae
  *   Copy of bio page of passport (must have validity of at least 6 months at time of travel)
  *   Completed and signed Individual Vendor form (attached)
  *   Copy of bank statement or bank letter confirming account details
  *   Completed and signed Legal Waiver form (attached)
  *   Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
  *   Confirmation of CSW68 registration (https://www.unwomen.org/en/csw/ngo-participation/registration)

Only complete applications will be considered.  Successful applicants will be notified by 24 November 2023 (Friday)* and are responsible for obtaining the appropriate visa for travel as well as covering the cost of one’s own passport, travel insurance, and costs related to COVID-19 safety measures.

*In the event of any changes in meeting modality (i.e. in-person to virtual) due to unforeseen circumstances, applicants will be notified that this support will be no longer be offered.
