[PDF-members] Outcome of the 2019 PDF Board Election

A very warm Pacific greetings to all Voting Delegates and Members of PDF

With the successful completion of the 2019 PDF Board election and the election to fill the one vacant position in the current Board, I as Returning Officer together with my colleague, Ms. Rose Wilkinson, CEO of Blind Citizens New Zealand constituting the election Scrutineer Committee are delighted to share with you the outcome of the 2019 Board election.
We are pleased to declare the following individuals for the male Co-Chairperson and four Board Member positions in the PDF Board.

1.       Co-Chairperson (Male) – Mr. Latoa Halatau, Akamarama Advocacy Inc., New Zealand

2.       Board Member – Ms. Mataafa Faatino Utumapu, Nuanua o le Alofa, Samoa

3.       Board Member – Mr Mataiti Mataiti, Cook Islands National Disability Council

4.       Board Member – Ms Jacqueline Garoau, Papua New Guinea Assembly of Persons with Disabilities

5.       Board Member – Mr Timote F. Vaiomo’unga, Tonga National Disability Congress



For the vacant Board Member position;

6.       Board Member – Ms Makarita Miriama, Fiji Association of the Deaf



Congratulations to the above individuals for taking up their positions in the PDF Board effective from August 2019. They will join the following serving members of the Board:

7.       Co-Chairperson (Female) – Ms. Villaney Remengesau, Omekesang Association, Palau

8.       Board Member – Ms. Samantha French, PWD Australia

9.       Board Member – Mr. Richard Fournier, Collectif Handicap New Caledonia

I also take this opportunity to thank all voting delegates who were able to exercise their constitutional duty in electing the male Co-Chairperson and 4 Board Member positions as stated above. I will be providing to the Board a full report on the 2019 Board election during the Annual Board Meeting planned for the first week of August 2019 which will also be shared with the members at the 2021 General Forum.
