IPWD NCS International Day for Persons with Disabilities 2021Dialogue

Greetings from the Secretariat,

Having a disability led response to COVID-19 will ensure that the rights of persons with disabilities are not overlooked as the world recovers from the global pandemic.

This year the theme for the International Day for Persons with Disabilities is "Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world."

The theme reaffirms that for the full realisation of the rights of persons with disabilities, any recovery effort should be supported for the participation and to be guided by persons with disabilities.

In this regard, the Pacific Disability Forum will be holding a half day dialogue and observance in Fiji. The celebration is being led by Secretariat staff who are also persons with disabilities and allows for the organisations of persons with disabilities around the Region to share their stories and lived experiences living through the height of preparedness, response, and lockdown, and towards an inclusive, accessible, and sustainable COVID 19 world.

The dialogue session will be held at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva and begins at 9am. The event will also be live streamed across the region.
