Dear colleagues,

UNICEF has established a Centre of Excellence on Data for Children with Disabilities to promote the generation of robust and relevant statistics for decision-making and advocacy. In particular, the Centre will help fill data gaps, improve accessibility of data and promote data use on and for children with disabilities. The Centre will also foster collaboration, standardization of approaches to data production and dissemination, and coordination of data activities.

As part of its inception phase of activities, the Centre has launched three calls for proposals to support innovative projects relating to data analysis, visualization and capacity building. The projects will be selected through a globally competitive process. Applications from qualified candidates from low- and middle-income countries and/or who identify as having a disability are encouraged.

We are also looking for children and youth with disabilities to share their ideas in establishing a visual identity for the Centre through a logo contest.

Finally, we are seeking persons or organizations who would like to share short data stories on interesting initiatives involving data on children with disabilities. The selected stories, in 2-minute video formats, will be featured at the launch event for the Centre of Excellence and seen by a wide array of actors in the disability field.

The submission deadline for all of these projects is 24 October 2021.
