Subject: [Dpo-officemanagers] Rolling Out PDF Communication Plan for COVID-19
Importance: High
Greetings from PDF Secretariat,
The outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has been declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) and the virus has now spread to many countries and territories. PDF response to this outbreak will be defined in 3 outcomes in a communication plan developed by the Secretariat to support the COVID-19 awareness, preparedness and response mechanisms to ensure that the following outcomes are achieved for persons with disabilities
1. Persons with disabilities and their families in the Pacific practice necessary precautionary measures to protect them from COVID-19 outbreak
2. Disabled Persons Organisations in the Pacific put in place necessary actions that will guarantee safety of its staff and members.
3. Health Facilities and Workers in the Pacific put in place measures to ensure that persons with disabilities have access to proper, inclusive and accessible health services on an equal basis with others without discrimination.
Over the next days, PDF will be disseminating a questionnaire which we are requesting all DPOs to provide the necessary information to assist in the developing of awareness materials for your members. The information will also help the Secretariat provide technical support for your advocacy efforts in ensuring that persons with disabilities are not left behind in the efforts to curb COVID-19. To enhance communication between the Secretariat and DPOs, the secretariat staff have been allocated DPOs respectively (buddy DPOs) and they will be contacting you soon on related issues regarding COVID – 19. Finally, PDF is also developing a Emergence Response Plan for the Secretariat which can be shared if it is needed by the DPO.
Feel free to contact me should you need further clarification.
Regards and stay safe.
